Deadline for Entry is Sunday August 11th 2019
Risobook 2 is on the theme “Future Conditional”, what is your Utopian vision? Or What Dystopia will come about if we don’t evolve as a civilisation in a good way? And how do we get there? This is your opportunity to reveal your inner predictions, inner hopes and fears, of our possible futures.
What are the rules for the Artwork?
We don't want to place too many constraints on your creativity, but the work must be suitable for Risograph printing to be included. If you are not familiar with Risograph printing, then you can read a fantastic guide to the world of Risograph printing by Gabriella Marcella at the wonderful Risotto Studio website (it's a downloadable PDF called the "print Bible").
Submissions will be in the form of digital files which we will print in-house. Artwork should be 300dpi on an A3 canvas, with layers clearly identifying the colour separations, as well as a full-colour digital mock-up of how you expect the work to look when printed.
Colours - you can use any of the following colours in your artwork, but there is a limit of 4 colours in one artwork. Less is often more, and Duotone images are particularly effective with Risorgaph printing, where new colours can be made by overprinting.
If we want to include your work but it is not set up or suitable for Risograph printing, then we will work with you to get the work print-ready.
How will selection work?
If necessary the editorial team at The Holodeck will assess the submissions and select the chosen works, that when taken together, produce the most interesting publication. Risobook 1 featured 47 artists, hopefully we can make Risobook 2 even bigger.
What does it cost?
It costs nothing to take part. The Holodeck is covering all printing and production costs. All participants will receive a complimentary copy of the book and 10 copies of their own print (to keep, give to friends and family, or sell). The book will be available to purchase, with any profit from book sales to be used in funding future issues.
